Kia ora and welcome to Pauanesia.

Pauanesia is a wonderful small Auckland city store that celebrates New Zealand with an ever-changing array of home textiles, ceramics, jewellery and craft.
Opened in 1995 Pauanesia started a new concept in NZ retail; a store that celebrated Kiwi living and New Zealand stories. It is not a souvenir store or an Asian-sourced gift store instead it commemorates our landscapes, our treasures and our people and their stories in a distinctive Kiwi way.

It has earned a reputation with locals and visitors as a “unique treasure trove” of cool items to adorn your home and your body, and to give as gifts. Staffed by passionate Kiwis it has deliberately remained small and dynamic.





  Two years ago Pauanesia launched its own collection of home textiles capturing the beauty, the colours and the spirit of our land in printed cushions, tablecloths and lampshades. This was a dream-come true for owner Heather Gerbic who launched the business with Nigel in 1995.
Last  year three new exclusive textile prints have been added; they are screen-printed in small runs on cotton canvas. Besides the textiles we collaborate with local jewellers, artisans and ceramic studios to fill the small store with distinctive NZ goods.
For those not able to visit the store this website features a selection of popular Pauanesia items we are happy to ship. We are small; not a big corporation so please give us time to make shopping with us a pleasure.
Christmas is always frantic for us and we don’t have huge store rooms so to avoid disappointment please give us good notice.
