A NZ made, Poi-inspired medallion designed for Pauanesia, metal-cast with Paua laminate and a coloured plaited hanging cord.
The Poi originates from the egg shaped flax bags early Maori used to carry Mao and Kiwi eggs. Warriors then began to swing the bags to strengthen their wrists for warfare requiring the swinging of Mere and Pat. Maori wahine then incorporated the poi into war dances and peaceful dance performances.
The medallions can be used as napkin rings, worn as pendants, or simply hung on the Christmas tree.
