Matariki merino silk scarf

Melissa Martyn’s artwork for this scarf design tells the story of the little eyes of Tawhirimatea (God of the Weather) that were stuck to the chest of Ranginui (God of the Sky).  With no eyes Tawhirimatea must now use the winds to feel his way around, making the winds of Aotearoa unpredictable.  His eyes, stuck to Ranginui, are now seen as the Matariki constellation and mark the dawn of the Māori New Year.

Merino wool (90%) & silk (10%). Woven and digitally printed for us in India.

Size
200cm length and 70cm wide

Taking care of your scarf
Hand wash only with lukewarm water and mild wool detergent. Rinse thoroughly and remove excess moisture by rolling scarf in a towel. Lay scarf flat and ease into shape. Leave to dry away from direct sunlight or direct heat.
