Cathedral Cove Print

Te-Whanganui-a-Hei (or Cathedral Cove) in the Coromandel. Te Whanganui-A-Hei was first claimed by Hei from the waka Te Arawa, some time around 1350 AD. On a northbound voyage from the Bay of Plenty to Hauraki, Hei chose the area around Mercury Bay to settle with his people. Joanne Ho, an Auckland artist, painted this scene of the cove, now a very popular tourist destination, for our 2017 Aotearama calendar.
