Our 2022 Aotearama calendar features 12 artworks by Amy Joe, Ngāti Kahungunu. Her message is below.
Ko Ngāti Kahungunu tōku iwi, Ko Lawton/Smith/Joe tōku whanau, Ko Amy tōku ingoa.I am an artist of both Māori and Pākehā descent and I like to explore the relationship I have to both these whakapapa using collage and assemblage. I have worked with Pauanesia for many years and I hold close their love of our local environment, objects, people and history. In keeping with the Pauanesia kaupapa I use objects and materials that reference our shared experience of being in Aotearoa. Our shared Tūrangawaewae - the place where we belong
